When older persons are unable to care appropriately for themselves or their property, and there is judicial finding of incompetence, Maryland law provides that the director of the state or local office on aging may be appointed guardian. As guardians, we assume legal responsibility for the well-being of the elderly placed in our care. This includes making provisions for our client's social, physical, financial and spiritual well-being. With the help of our county senior center programs, we strive to provide assistance and services to ensure that the person can continue to live in the community and take part in community activities.
