Volunteer with Children
- Junior Achievement - Help teach children in grades K - 12 about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness skills. Our children need to know how the real world operates. Won't you help! Background check required. You pick the county, grade and school you want to volunteer at. After an orientation, you choose a grade and will receive a packet that contains all the materials you will need as well as lesson outlines for each day. Then after choosing the school, you will teach each day for one week. Each grade level has a different topic with hands on activities.
- Wicomico Mentoring - There is a long waiting list of kids who need Mentors, could you give an hour? Take one hour out of your schedule every week to provide support to an at risk child in Wicomico County Schools. These are children who have little or no support at home. Mentored children stay more focused on school work, show improvement in grades and are less likely to drop out. Pick a school near you, they need mentors in all schools Background check required.
- Village of Hope - Transitional housing program is in need of caring, dedicated, flexible child care helpers who can provide respite to homeless mothers, babysit for medical appointments and program functions, and give of themselves for 2 or more hours per week. Most care provided to children under the age of 5 with some needs for school-aged children up to age 13.
